Quick trip to Cornwall

It’s felt like forever since I last visited Cornwall, which is crazy considering I’m currently studying a full time degree down there! So when I recently got the opportunity to go back I decided to make the most of it, by taking a bit of a road trip with my friend Amy and my dog, Martha.

We made our way around the coast starting near Newquay. We spent the first night near Padstow, as close to a dog friendly beach as we could get! The following morning we woke up to a beautiful sunrise, before heading on our way before any of the locals woke up.

We got on our way to Holywell, stopping briefly at Trevone beach for a quick morning swim. After a long walk around the sand dunes near Holywell we went on towards Saint Agnes, where we planned to spend the night. It was here that we found a tiny cove that we absolutely fell in love with - Chapel Porth beach. The long winding path trailed around the cliffs, passing crumbling ruins. For the short space of time that we were there, we experienced such amazing weather; for one moment it would feel tropical and everything would be golden, but within half an hour there was no doubt that it could be pouring and grey.

The next couple of days all blended into a lovely whirlwind, which all went far too quickly. They consisted of walking, swimming and drinking coffee.

We drove further down south towards Godrevy, where we walked along the coastline watching the seals on the shore, before making our way towards Falmouth. The night before our trip was over, we celebrated with pizza and the lovely view of Gylly beach. A little beach that I’ve grown to love over the past 3 years of studying in Cornwall.

On our way home we couldn’t resist stopping once more at a very quiet swim spot we’d read about online in Bodmin Moor, Gold Diggings Quarry. The spot didn’t disappoint – a short walk to a very secluded pool of water surrounded by granite. After a quick dip and a coffee we continued on our journey back up north, towards the reality of work and deadlines.

Not many pictures to upload for this trip, but keep an eye out as I’m hoping to find the time to throw together a very short film documenting the whole thing!
